Title: Designing and creating a stylistic scene inspired by the country of Mongolia in UE4 engine.
Maja Solecka’s diploma work is a virtual space inspired by Mongolia, infrared photography and video games such as Heroes of the Storm and Ragnarok. The work is presented in the form of a short film.
The environment created is a Mongolian village that consists of several architectural objects, such as a temple and yurts, with one complete interior. Around the village there is a steppe and there are landscape elements such as light and wind that move the objects.
All 3D objects are self-made and based on original projects. The sketches for projects presented in the form of boards form an integral part of the diploma. The project was made in Unreal Engine 4. The created vision of the world is a bit surrealistic because of the colour palette– it has a fairy-tale character. The greatest asset of this work is the skillfully built atmosphere based on the contrast between what is inside and outside the yurt: clean, warm, expressive and detailed interior and a slightly out of focus, a little bit dusty and stifling surroundings. Maja Solecka presented her entire space in an interesting way and underlined its advantages, using camera movements and focusing on the foreground while blurring the background. This can be seen while watching the scene showing the village through the temple.
