Małgorzata Łuszczak (personal website)
She was born in 1956 in Żywiec. Graduated from Art School Complex in Bielsko-Biała and from the Faculty of Art of the Silesian University in Katowice. Since 1981 she has been working in the Institute of Art in her home institution. She also works at the Faculty of Marketing and Mass Media of Cyryl and Trnav University in Slovakia. She started her doctoral studies in 2008.
In 2005 she was employed at the Faculty of Arts as a full-time professor, acting as
a director of the Institute of Art for three terms. She was also a managing director of the Interdisciplinary Cathedral of Artistic Creation and an author of postgraduate studies concerning Digital Graphics and Multimedia, which she managed over the period of 2000-2008. Currently she holds the position of a Dean of the Faculty of Arts and a head of the New Media Department.
She held workshops focused on the topics of drawing, computer graphics, creative projects and multimedia. The workshops were held for the majors of Graphics and Artistic Education in Visual Arts. She is a co-author of a program of an innovative field of study called Designing Games and Visual Space, awarded in 2013 by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. In teaching she is interested in making use of new media in artistic education at a higher educational level, their influence on the development of a student’s creative personality, a possibility to create new educative tools for remote learning and using games as a method of creative work and artistic expression.
In her artistic work she focuses on digital graphics, drawing and multimedia.
Her art pieces were exhibited on 35 solo exhibitions and more than 150 group exhibitions not only in the country but also around the world. She participated
in more than 200 nationwide and international graphic contests (e.g. in Spain, Canada, Germany, France, India, USA, the Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Portugal and Turkey).
Her art pieces are being reproduced in more than 60 monographs and publications
accompanying the exhibitions.
She is an editor of several monographs, e.g.: „Media cyfrowe w grafice” („Digital media in graphics”) (2003), „Dyscyplina” („Dyscypline”) (2010), „Pole widzenia” („Point of view”) (2012), „Boska Komedia. Dante w rysunku i grafice” („Divine Comedy. Dante in drawings and graphics”) (2012), and an author of articles concerning artistic education and contemporary graphics. She participated in more than 30 international conferences in Portugal, Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic
and Belgium. She was on 5 study visits in prestigious universities in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, USA and Warsaw (Faculty of Graphic Arts, AFA).
Her artistic and scientific activity was awarded with several distinctions, medals and awards, e.g.: Medal of the National Education Commission (2006), Pro Scientia et Arte, Katowice (2012), International Exlibris Competition, Ankara, Turkey (2012), III International Exhibition „Art in miniature” – Majdanpek, Serbia (2012), Minister of Science’s and Higher Education Award (2014), International Biennial of Graphic Digital Gdynia (2014).
Małgorzata Łuszczak is an author and a participant of several international projects devoted to innovative actions in artistic education realized in the countries
of European Union e.g.: „Internet w szkole – Grant Prezydenta RP” („Internet
in schools – Polish President’s Grant”), „KONTAKTY I, II i III” („Contacts I, II and III”), „Camile Cloudel I, II and III”, „ITAE- Intervention Through Art. Education”.
She currently realizes 2 educational and artistic projects e.g. Festiwal Sztuki i Gier Niezależnych LAG (Festival of Art and Independent Games LAG) co-financed from Creative Europe Fund.
