During the visit in Japan, in connection with our participation in the 11th Asian Forum on Graphic Science in Tokyo, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Faculty of Art in Cieszyn and Tokyo University of Technology (TUT) regarding planned cooperation. The document was signed on behalf of His Magnificence Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice, prof. dr hab. Andrzej Kowalczyk, by professor Małgorzata Łuszczak, Dean of the Faculty of Art in Cieszyn. TUT was represented by Dean of School of Media Science – Professor KAKIMOTO Masanori.
The ceremony was also attended by: Associate Professor IINUMA Mizuho, Professor KONDO Kunio, Professor SASAKI Kazuo, Katarzyna Kroczek Wasińska PhD and Paweł Synowiec PhD.
The School of Media Science is one of the faculties of TUT, which offers the following courses: Media Contents Course, Media Technology Course and Social Media Course. Media Contents Course is a course where students create video games, animations, videos and materials to be published online.
During the study visit at TUT in 2015, Paweł Synowiec had an opportunity to take a close look at the organizational structure of the School of Media Science and see how the didactic process is conducted at this faculty. The idea of cooperation between the School of Media Science and the Game and Virtual Space Design course was born during that visit. Both the similarities and differences in the curriculums of the two universities suggest that they can both benefit from the exchange of experiences and enrich each other’s knowledge, especially in the field of video games creation and broadly defined new media.
